The role of language in sustainability matters
Sustainability issues and knowledge on how to solve them are communicated through language. Language used in communicating sustainability issues shapes how people think about sustainability and sustainable development.
Achieving sustainability goals also requires all kinds of communication, for instance in education, public messaging, scientific research, global cooperation, and corporate value chains, all of which is transmitted through language.
Therefore, the clarity of language is also a sustainability matter: in order to be efficient and have actual impact, sustainability issues, goals to solve them, and means to achieve these goals need to be communicated with clear and understandable language.
